Tucher Original Nürnberger Rotbier

Tucher Original Nürnberger Rotbier

Brewery: Tucher
Color: unfiltered amber

Head: off-white
, rocky, lasting
Nose: nice mix of malt and hops

Body: medium

Palate: balanced, malty, hoppy

Finish: lingering, dry, semi-bitter

Served: on tap at the Grüner Brauhaus  in Fürth

Impression: I wasn’t sure what to expect but certainly something malty. Gorgeous presentation with a massive rocky head and a fairly hoppy nose. It’s dry and hoppy off the bat with enough malt to keep it from being overly bitter. The lingering finish is very dry and slightly bitter. It’s more of a Craft Beer Interpretation but I like it. On my second visit, when doing a Rotbier Roundup comparison of the Nürnberg Rotbiers, it’s not as hoppy compared to the Schanzenbräu or even the Brüderherz. It’s cleaner than at the Wirtshaus am Opernhaus with none of the buttery element I tasted there. There was a pleasant sourishness making it more quaffable than in town. It’s definitely smoother and more pleasant.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
