Klosterbräu Kellerbier

Brewery: Klosterbräu
Town:
Bamberg
Style: Kellerbier

Color: unfiltered
amber
Head: white
, creamy
Nose:
mix of malt & hops
Body:
medium
Palate: balanced
, fruity, underlying hops (2nd time, much fruitier but bitter aftertaste)
Finish: clean, semi-dry

Served: on tap at the brewery

Impression: Nice looking Kellerbier with a creamy head. It’s balanced but seems on the bland side for my tastes. Admittedly, I wasn’t planning on having it and wound up drinking it after a very robust and tasty Schwärzla. I’ll have to give it a go next time I’m there in summer and will be sure to order it first, hopefully sitting outside in the sun. I did stop back on a warm day and it was much more flavorful, quite fruity but also had an odd bitterness beyond hops.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
