Wiethaler Neunhofer Pils
Color: light golden
Head: white, rocky, lasting
Nose: faint grain, light Spalter hops
Body: medium, effervescent
Palate: grainy, Spalter hops
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought at the brewery
Impression: I was glad to get this at Wiethaler’s bottle shop since it wasn’t on tap at their pub. It pours gorgeously with a massive lasting rocky head. There’s some Spalter hops in the otherwise grainy nose which is pretty much exactly what it tastes like. It’s quite a clean beer but not exactly a classic Pils. It’s a nice Helles. Actually, I’d scrape the Helles and put this in its place. At 5%, it would make a nice session beer and I’d love to get it on tap but if it’s not available at their own pub, it’s not likely you’ll find it anywhere else.
