Gundel Dunkles Gold
Color: unfiltered chestnut
Head: off-white, rocky
Nose: light Spalter hops, roasted malt
Palate: malty, slight roast, underlying Spalter hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle at the brewery
Impression: I was disappointed this wasn’t on tap but I’m glad I drank a bottle at the pub despite really liking the tap Helles. It’s a great looking unfiltered chestnut, again with a quite dry palate intermingling with some roasty elements. The finish is dry for the style but I find it moreish. I bought a few to bring home at the brewery up the street.
