Wettelsheimer Hell

golden beer in mug with pewter lid and bottle
Wettelsheimer Hell

Brewery:  Strauss
Town:
Wettelsheim
Style: Helles
Color: golden

Head:
white, creamy
Nose: malty, grainy, mown grass, hint of honey

Body: medium

Palate: balanced, malty, hint of honey

Finish: lingering, semi-dry, very slight bitterness

Served: from a bottle bought in the area

Impression: Since the Wettelsheimer Keller only has their Märzen on tap and I’ve not been to any of the pubs in Wettelsheim, I was happy to find this at the train station in Treuchtlingen. Though I’m a big fan of the Märzen, this is a lovely soft Helles with a pleasant grainy palate and a touch of honey. It’s not sweet and the hops peek through mostly in a drying fashion, leaving only a hint of bitterness. It’s got the kind of lingering finish which invites another sip. Looks like I need to get to one of the pubs when the Keller closes for the season.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
