Impression:  My father-in-law doesn’t always bring the best beer when he comes to visit so wasn’t expecting much from this Dunkles. He said it was the oldest brewery in the Nürnberg area and I immediately became more wary as I’d never heard of it. It poured out nicely with a fair off-white head and a gorgeous mahogany hue. The nose was more robust than many too. The malty palate has some chocolate and just enough dryness to make it moreish in the semi-dry, semi-bitter finish. Nice and quaffable at 5.2%.
