Fürst Carl Urhell

beer in mug with pewter lid and pretzel with bottle
Fürst Carl Urhell

Brewery: Fürst Carl Schlossbrauerei
Town:
Ellingen
Style: Helles
Color: light golden

Head: white, rocky, lasting

Nose: fine mix of grain & hops

Body: medium

Palate: balanced, hoppy, light grain

Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter

Served: from a bottle bought at the brewery

Impression: Another beer I was surprised wasn’t on tap at the brewery but it’s good to see an Export beating out a Helles for a change. Of course, in this case the Helles might be better but it’s aided by a much less fizzy self pour. It’s got a similar mix of grain and hops in the nose but it’s less sticky right from the start. It might be a tad hoppier as well and is surely drier. The finish is clean and semi-bitter.
