Schroll Trüber Hammel
Style: unfiltered Pils
Color: unfiltered light golden
Head: white, rocky, massive
Nose: grainy, spicy hops, peppery
Palate: balanced, grainy, hoppy, peppery
Finish: clean, dry, bitter
Served: from a bottle bought in the area
Impression: I’d not seen or even heard of this unfiltered Pils before but really loved the family the few times I’d been there so decided to give it a go. It poured very slowly with a massive lasting head and some spicy hops in the nose. It’s quite a departure for a brewery mostly noted for malty beers. Its dry and hoppy from the get go but there’s plenty of malt to keep it balanced. The clean finish is dry and bitter, making it quite deceptive at 5.2%.
