Lippert Fränkisch Hell

Brewery: Braumanufaktur Lippert
Seubelsdorf (Lichtenfels)
Color: golden

Head: white
, creamy, thinning
Nose: malty, grainy, mown grass

Body: medium

Palate: balanced,
malty, cereal, underlying hops
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter

Served: on tap at the brewery

Impression: Though I’d heard of Lippert, I’d never given it much thought as it had no pub attached. That all changed in 2020 and though slowed by COVID, I finally made it there in the early summer of 2021. This Helles was quite serviceable and though not a true Franconian style, it’s certainly much drier than most of its Bavarian counterparts. It was quite lively but the server took her time and it wasn’t fizzy. There was a nice cereal element to both the nose and palate. Aside from the dryness, it was also hoppier than most. The clean, semi-bitter finish sealed the deal for me. An easy drinker at 4.9%. Glad I made the journey.
