Nikl-Bräu Zwickl
Brewery: Nikl-Bräu
Town: Pretzfeld
Style: Zwickl
Color: unfiltered, yellow
Head: white, creamy
Nose: grainy, malty, a touch of hops
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, malty, grainy, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at the Pretzfelder Keller
Impression: The Bierkeller was getting busier by this point and the first pour reflected it but still a good looking beer with some grain and hops in the nose. It’s a very refreshing brew, perfect for the Keller and at 4.7%, it’s surely the crowd favorite. I’d be happy to drink it too but with that Dunkles Kellerbier on tap, it would always be my first choice. I wonder if all the beers were in ceramic mugs and this was called Lagerbier and the Michala was called Kellerbier, would the latter be more popular?
