Keesmann Sternla

amber beer in logo mug

Keesmann Sternla

Brewery: Keesmann
Town:
Bamberg
Style:
Franconian Lager
Color: amber

Head:
white, thinning
Nose: malty, slight caramel, light hops
Body: fairly full

Palate: balanced but firmly hoppy

Finish: clean, dry, bitter

Served:
on tap at the brewery

Impression: This is a beer which gets lost in the shuffle due to the popularity of Keesmann’s flaghip Herren Pils. I can’t say anything as it had been ages since I’d had it and was pleasantly surprised by its dry hoppy character. It manages to be quite malty and simultaneously dry and seems much richer than its reported 5%. The finish is decidedly dry and bitter. I’ll be ordering this again soon.
