Town: Hütten (Warmensteinach)
Color: unfiltered amber
Head: off-white, rocky
Palate: balanced, malty, fruity, underlying hops
Finish: clean, semi-dry
Served: from a bottle bought locally
Impression: Since I’d spent the previous night at the brewery tap hotel and they only had two of their beers on tap, I picked up some bottles to try at home. This Zwickl looked gorgeous on pouring with a massive rocky head and some grain in the nose. The palate was mostly grainy with some fruitiness but the finish kind of sat there and there was nothing to set it apart from the herd. That said, it was probably more interesting than the Günther Bräu Kellerbier I’d just had.
