Lang Bräu Dunkler Bock

dark beer in glass with bottle
Lang Bräu Dunkler Bock

Brewery: Lang Bräu
Town:
Schönbrunn
Style: Dunklerbock

Color: mahogany

Head: off-white, sudsy
Nose: rich malt, slight roast

Body: full

Palate: balanced, richly malty, underlying hops, roasty
Finish: clean, semi-bitter, semi-dry

Served: from a bottle bought in the area

Impression: I had their Heller Bock a few months ago and it was a real surprise. Both of their Bocks are potent and labeled as Doppelbocks and at 7.5% each, rightfully so. This dark one is quite rich and roasty but there’s plenty of hops on the underside to make for a longish, somewhat dry, semi-bitter finish. Not sure which I liked better but I will look for them again next year and try to squirrel one away to compare head to head.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
