Hönicka Bräu Wonnesud Dunkles Spezialbier

dark beer with big head in glass with bottle

Hönicka Wonnesud Dunkles Spezialbier

Brewery: Hönicka Bräu Wunsiedler
Town:
Wunsiedel
Style: Dunkles

Color: chestnut

Head: off-white, sudsy, massive
Nose: rich malt, slight roast

Body: medium

Palate: balanced, richly malty, roasty, a touch of pepper
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter

Served: from a bottle bought in the area

Impression: I quite liked their bottled Doppelbock so got a few more of their beers. Their Heller Bock was nice and this Dunkles is okay. It sure looked great on pouring, with one of the nicest heads I’ve ever seen. It’s balanced but a bit simple and there was a slight odd bitterness as it warmed up. I wouldn’t hesitate to get it on tap if I get to their pub but otherwise I’d stick to their Bocks, bottle-wise.

Back to the beer list.
