Schübel Drunkel
Brewery: Schübel Bräu
Town: Stadtsteinach
Style: Dunkles
Color: mahogany
Head: off-white, rocky
Nose: malty, faint chocolate, hint of licorice, light hops
Body: medium
Palate: grainy, hoppy, faint chocolate
Finish: clean, dry, bitter
Served: from a bottle bought in the area
Impression: This was another impressive looking beer from Schübel with what appears their signature rocky massive head. There’s more grain in the nose than is typical for the style but some faint chocolate creeps in too. It’s also hoppier than most Dunkles but there’s plenty of malt to keep it in check. The finish is dry and bitter. It’s a flavorful but easy drinking 4.9%.
