Schübel a Fränkisch
Brewery: Schübel Bräu
Town: Stadtsteinach
Style: Kellerbier
Color: unfiltered but fairly clear amber
Head: white, rocky
Nose: faint grain
Body: medium
Palate: malty, some grain, very slight roast, underlying hops
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought in the area
Impression: I’ve had a few of their beers in bottles now and all have been solid, including this unfiltered Kellerbier which is remarkably clear. It’s a typical Altfränkisch with the amber hue and soft palate. It’s balanced with some pleasant graininess. The hops become more apparent as it warms and you drink, giving it a nice slightly bitter finish. At 4.9%, it would be a great session beer at the Keller.
