Impression: I’ve had quite a few of their seasonal beers this COVID season and find this to be perhaps their most rounded. It’s got a gorgeous amber hue much befitting the style and a lovely off-white bread-like head. The nose is richly malty with some burnt caramel and spiciness. The palate is a mirror reflection of these sensory impressions. It’s certainly a true Märzen and an easily drunk one at 5.5%.
I’ve been to Forchheim twice to do presentations, but that’s the closest I’ve gotten to Hetzelsdorf.
