Hummel 1162 Heller Rauch Festbier
Color: deep golden to light amber
Head: white, rocky
Nose: light smoke
Palate: malty, light smokiness, faint grain, underlying but firm hops
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought in the area
Impression: Heller Rauch is generally not my favorite style but this Fest has a nice malty palate. It’s also got some fair hopping so it remains fairly dry. The smoke is subdued but unmistakable, kicking in with the hops for a surprisingly bitter finish.
