Beck Bräu Kellerbier
Brewery: Beck Bräu
Town: Trabelsdorf
Style: Kellerbier
Color: unfiltered amber
Head: rocky, off-white
Nose: faint grain
Body: medium
Palate: malty, some grain
Finish: lingering, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought in the area
Impression: I’ve had a few of their beers in bottles now and this is the most lackluster. It looked great on the pour but not nearly as tasty as visually advertised. It’s mostly malty with some grain and not enough hops for me or my expectations of the style. There’s nothing wrong with it and surely a nice enough beer on a hot day in the Keller but it doesn’t really grab you with its thin flavor.
Again, Trabelsdorf is a place I have never heard of, but I see it is not far from Bamberg, where I have been twice to do presentations.
Another place you’re not likely to go unless you’re into small breweries. It’s probably quicker to cycle than wait for the bus!
