Zum Löwenbräu Märzen Löwe
Brewery: Brauerei Zum Löwenbräu
Town: Neuhaus (Adelsdorf)
Style: Märzen
Color: unfiltered deep golden
Head: white, rocky
Nose: toasted malt, light cereal, underlying hops
Body: medium
Palate: toasted malt, light cereal, underlying hops
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought in the area
Impression: So far I’ve enjoyed all the beers I’ve had from this brewery and while this Märzen was not typical of the style, it poured with a gorgeous deep golden hue and ample lovely head. There was toasted malt in both the nose and palate with some cereal notes thrown in. It lacked the spicy aspect I like in a Märzen and was certainly lighter in color than most but what it lacked in these ways, it made up for with a drier and more bitter finish.
