Roppelt Dunkel
Brewery: Roppelt
Town: Trossenfurt
Style: Dunkles
Color: dark amber
Head: off-white, sudsy
Nose: chocolate malt, light hop
Body: medium
Palate: malty, a touch of chocolate
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought in the area
Impression: I was disappointed when this wasn’t available at their Bierkeller but loved their Lagerbier. So, I was excited to find this in a bottle. The first one lost most of its head but this one looks great, dark amber and off-white head. There’s some chocolate in the nose and it’s got a soft mouthfeel. It’s quite malty but not sticky with the chocolate peeking through. The hops are subdued but dry it out nicely in the moreish finish.
