Beck Bräu Lager
Brewery: Beck Bräu
Town: Trabelsdorf
Style: Lager
Color: amber
Head: rocky, off-white, lasting
Nose: grain, very slight butterscotch
Body: medium
Palate: grainy, slightly fruity, underlying hops, if there’s butterscotch it’s well-integrated
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought in the area
Impression: This poured in gorgeous fashion with a crystal clear amber hue and massive rocky head. There was some butterscotch mixed with grain in the nose but it’s so well-integrated it’s not very forthcoming in the balanced grainy palate. The flavor is a bit thin but what’s there is tasty enough. It’s fairly dry and the finish is clean with just enough bitterness. Not bad. If they have this on tap, I’d be happy to drink this in their cute little Biergarten.
I’ve never heard of Trabelsdorf before, but I see it’s not far from Bamberg.
I guess few would if not looking for out of the way breweries. Not far from Bamberg as the crow flies but the buses are not exactly frequent or regular!
