Beck Bräu Jahrhundert Bier
Brewery: Beck Bräu
Town: Trabelsdorf
Style: Dunkles
Color: dark amber
Head: rocky, off-white, lasting
Nose: chocolate malt
Body: medium
Palate: chocolate malt, light cereal
Finish: clean, semi-dry, very slightly bitter, moreish
Served: from a bottle bought in the area
Impression: I wasn’t sure what to expect as I haven’t heard much good about this mostly Pils producing brewery but I’ve waited outside their closed doors a few times due to very limited opening hours. I saw this Jahrhundert and was pleasantly surprised to find it a Dunkles, and a gorgeous one at that. The head was massive and rocky. The nose had plenty of chocolate malt. That’s pretty much what it tastes like too but some underlying hops show up towards the finish to make for a imminently moreish brew. I’ll not hesitate to try the rest of their lineup now.
