Penning Weihnachtsbock
Brewery: Penning Zeissler
Town: Hetzelsdorf
Style: Bock
Color: amber
Head: off white, bready, thinning
Nose: malty, some dried fruit, slight grain
Body: medium, low carbonation
Palate: malty, fruity, some grain, soft
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought in the area
Impression: I love their Vollbier and this is what I like to see in a Bock, a big brother to their flagship beer with lots of the same characteristics. It’s malty without being sweet with some dried fruit and caramel thrown in for good measure but it remains dry in the finish which makes it moreish at 6.5%.
