Krug-Bräu Bock
Brewery: Krug-Bräu
Town: Breitenlesau
Style: Heller Bock
Color: amber
Head: off-white, thinning
Nose: rich toasted malt, some caramel
Body: full
Palate: richly malty, some toasted element, bready, underlying hops
Finish: clean, sem-dry
Served: from a bottle bought in the area
Impression: I’ve had this a few times on tap so it was nice to pick up a few bottles of it since it was unlikely I’d get up there with the COVID restriction in effect. It poured a bit darker than the draft version, heading in the amber direction. While it’s a Hellerbock, it’s one of the darker ones anyway and has a very full body and richly malty palate. That said, there are plenty of hops to make for a long semi-dry, bittersweet finish. Quite nice at 6.8%.
