Grasser Zwickel in bottle
Brewery: Grasser
Town: Huppendorf
Style: Zwickel
Color: unfiltered, yellow
Head: white, sudsy, thinning
Nose: grainy, grassy, faint hop
Body: medium
Palate: slight grain, bready element, underlying hops
Finish: clean, semi-dry
Served: from a bottle bought in the area
Impression: Oddly enough, I’ve never given this a try at their pub. It’s a style I tend to shy away from as I’ve had some very bland ones. I decided to pick up a bottle to reduce the risk factor, after all you don’t want to “waste” a beer at Huppendorfer. It poured an incredibly refreshing unfiltered yellow and the balanced dry palate featured both well-integrated grain and grassy elements with some understated hops which made for a moreish semi-dry finish. An easy drinker at 4.9%, I guess I’ll have to try it on tap next time I’m there.
