Kesselring Urfränkisches Landbier
Brewery: Kesselring
Town: Marktsteft
Style: Landbier
Color: mahogany
Head: off-white, rocky, massive
Nose: rich malt, hint of roast
Body: full
Palate: richly malty, very slight roast, underlying hops
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought locally
Impression: I’d not heard of this brewery when shopping in a local beer store but I’d seen the beers before and not bought any so figured it was time to give them a try. It was quite dark for the style with an absolutely massive rocky head and rich malty nose. It resembled a Dunkler Bock but was only 5.3% and much richer in flavor than that. Despite all the malt presence, it wasn’t sweet and had a fairly dry finish. I’ll buy more of their beers if I run across them.
