Fischer (Greuth) Rauchbier

amber beer in mug with logo
Fischer Rauchbier

Brewery: Rittmayer (brewed for Fischer)
Town: Hallerndorf

Style: Rauchbier
Color: deep amber
Head: off-white, thinning
Nose: slightly malty, faint smoke
Body: medium, low carbonation
Palate: malty, underlying hops, light smoke
Finish: semi-dry, semi-bitter

Served: on tap at Brauerei Fischer

Impression: I’d had this Rauchbier in 2012 when Fischer was still brewing and though I’d heard it was now contract-brewed by Rittmayer in Hallerndorf, I wanted to see how it’s fared. This one was much better than the Kellerbier with a light smokiness adding some bitterness and making it an overall more enticing beer. From the samples I had in September 2020, if you only have time for one, go for the Rauchbier.
