Fischer (Greuth) Kellerbier

beer in logo ceramic mug
Fischer Kellerbier

Brewery: Rittmayer (brewed for Fischer)
Town: Hallerndorf

Style: Kellerbier
Color: in Krug so no visuals, looks amber
Head: white, thinning
Nose: slightly malty
Body: medium, low carbonation
Palate: malty, underlying hops
Finish: semi-dry, semi-bitter

Served: on tap at Brauerei Fischer

Impression: I’d had this Kellerbier in 2012 when Fischer was still brewing and though I’d heard it was now contract-brewed by Rittmayer in Hallerndorf, I wanted to see how it’s fared. It certainly wasn’t as hoppy as remembered and was very low in carbonation. It lacked any original character. I’d come from the Laufer Keller and would say even the Brauhaus Höchstadt Kellerbier was better. If in the area, it’s worth stopping in but I wouldn’t go out of your way to do it.
