Impression: This was the reason I’d been swayed to travel three hours by train/bus to pay Dorn-Bräu a visit. Their Vollbier is their signature but everything I’d read pointed to this Export Dunkel being their true flagship. It came out a chestnut beauty with an off-white rocky head and chocolate in the nose. Again, this beer wasn’t fizzy in the least. Malty as you’d expect in the style, the same Spalter hop profile was nonetheless drying in the finish. This was worth the trip in itself and a good reason to return.
