Prechtel Kellerbier (Schnapperla)
Brewery: Prechtel
Town: Uehfeld
Style: Kellerbier
Color: in Krug so no visuals, looks golden
Head: off-white, rocky, protruding
Nose: some grain, faint hop
Body: medium, low carbonation
Palate: dry, fruity, some grain, touch of butter, underlying hops
Finish: long, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at the brewery’s Kellerberg Voggendorf
Impression: This was the beer I’d traveled to Uehfeld the first time to have, only to find it not on tap at the brewery. I learned it was only available on tap at their Bierkeller and planned on returning, for a few years. Well, it was worth the wait. The first pour was fantastic, with a chiffon-like head protruding over the large Krug. There’s a delicate grain element with a hint of butter that isn’t obtrusive. The moreish finish is lingering with an understated hoppy element.
