Bayer (Zum Grünen Baum) Landbier

Brauerei Bayer Landbier (Ungespundetes Lager)

Brewery: Bayer (Zum Grünen Baum)
Town:
Theinheim
Style:
Ungespundetes Lager
Color: unfiltered, straw

Head:
white, soft, thinning but lasting
Nose:
grainy
Body: medium
, soft
Palate: malt forward, unfolding grain, dryish
Finish: long, slightly bitter

Served: on tap at the brewery

Impression: This beer was set up to fail. Though I’d found out about the brewery relatively late in my Franconian beer hunting, I’d heard amazing things about it. I’d also had one incredible beer at lunch this very day but I will have to say it lived up to its hype, despite it not being the type of beer I generally go for. It was very much a malt forward, grainy affair but the grain unfolded rather than dominated and in the end, it was just dry enough to make it very much a moreish session beer. It is certainly worth the walk, drive, effort to get to and you could easily drink this all day, every day.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
