Brauhaus am Kruezberg Zwickel
Brewery: Brauhaus am Kruezberg
Town: Hallerndorf
Style: Zwickel
Color: in Krug so no visuals, looks ruddy
Head: none
Nose: slight yeast
Body: medium
Palate: sour, possibly spoiled
Finish: I didn’t finish it
Served: on tap at the Brauhaus am Kreuzberg
Impression: I’d been to this very popular brewpub up on the Kreuzberg a few times. While it was always my least favorite of the places up there, I didn’t think it was bad. From memory, the Pilgertrunk was fair enough. I’d heard some bad things about the beer recently and decided to try their Zwickel, figuring it would be an easy style to brew and should be the go to at a Bierkeller if there is not Kellerbier on the menu (which there wasn’t). It looked okay in the Krug if a bit flat. That I could handle in the style but it had yeasty nose and a sour flavor. If it had been a Weizen, I might have said it was just not good but if this wasn’t spoiled, I really don’t know what the brewer was going for.
Next beer or back to the beer list.
