Schroll Ur-Trunk
Brewery: Schroll
Town: Reckendorf
Style: Braunbier
Color: unfiltered light brown
Head: white, sudsy
Nose: malty
Body: medium, low carbonation
Palate: malty, fruity
Finish: slightly dry, slightly bitter
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: Braunbier is a malty style somewhat similar to Märzen and this is a typical example of the former with a primarily malty palate with some fruity elements. The finish is semi-dry, especially considering the low hop level. The unfiltered appearance gives it a home-brew kind of feeling and fits the style of beer as well. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I enjoyed it and the place.
