Schanzenbräu Schwarzbier
Brewery: Schanzenbräu
Town: Nürnberg
Style: Schwarzbier
Color: nearly black
Head: rocky, tan
Nose: slight roast
Body: full
Palate: malty, roast
Finish: clean
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: I did have this at the brewery but forgot to take a photo, hence the bottled picture. I quite liked the pub but the food was lackluster, especially for Franconia. I liked the two beers I had but didn’t find them anything special. The Schwarzbier looked fantastic and there was nothing wrong with the flavor but I also didn’t find it worth all the hype the brewery seems to garner in Nürnberg. It was a well made Schwarzbier that clicked all the boxes but not sure I’d go out of my way for it.
