Nikl-Bräu Zwickl
Brewery: Nikl-Bräu
Town: Pretzfeld
Style: Zwickl
Color: unfiltered, yellow
Head: off white, fluffy
Nose: malty, a touch of hops
Body: medium
Palate: malty, underlying hops
Finish: clean, somewhat bitter
Served: on tap at The Balkon, a pub near the Nürnberg train station
Impression: This was a quick beer on a hour layover in the train station. I’d had some very good beers that day so surely, this may have clouded my impressions somewhat. It looked great and had a nicely balanced palate but wasn’t overly tasty and the finish could have been drier for me. That said, my other choice was a Tucher Kellerbier and Nikl-Bräu is not only a small regional brewery which deserves my support, but I’m sure the beer is better too.
Next beer or back to the beer list.
