Frauendorfer Kellerbier
Brewery: Hetzel (Frauendorfer)
Town: Frauendorf
Style: Pils
Color: light golden
Head: rocky, white
Nose: nice mix of grain and hops
Body: medium, low carbonation
Palate: soft, dry, fruity, very slight grain
Finish: clean, bitter
Served: from a bottle bought close to Bad Staffelstein
Impression: I was happy to find this in a local beer store after having hiked to the brewery only to find it unexpectedly closed. I bought the three beers they had from the brewery and drank this one after both their signature Vollbier and an unfiltered Kellerbier. This was fuller bodied than most Pils and fruitier but still quite dry and bitter. It’s quite drinkable at 5.3%. Still not sure if I liked it more than the Kellerbier but think the Vollbier was my favorite of the three.
