Faust Schwarzviertler
Brewery: Faust
Town: Miltenberg
Style: Dunkles/Schwarzbier
Color: light brown
Head: ample, off-white
Nose: malt, slight roast
Body: medium
Palate: malty, slight roast, some chocolate
Finish: could be drier
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: I wasn’t impressed with the beers at Faust but this cross between a Schwarzbier and Dunkles was probably the best of the lot. It sure looked great and though it had some roast and chocolate notes, they seemed a bit buried beneath what was mostly a malty palate. It could have used some hops to dry it out as the finish was uncertain.
