Color: unfiltered, very dark brown
Head: off-white, creamy
Nose: slight roast
Body: medium, low carbonation
Palate: roasty, semi-dry
Finish: clean, somewhat bitter
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: Though Schwarzbier is not a style typical of Franconia, I’ve noticed more breweries making them, mostly with good results. This one is no exception. While not quite black, it’s very dark and the creamy head is a nice touch. It has a bit or roast in the nose and plenty flavor-wise. As is typical in Wattendorf, the finish is dry and clean.
