Schroll Bock
Brewery: Schroll
Town: Nankendorf
Style: Bock
Color: deep mahogany
Head: tan, rocky
Nose: rich malt, hint of licorice
Body: full
Palate: rich malt, roast, caramel
Finish: slightly dry, bittersweet
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: The brewery’s signature Landbier had let me down, though on subsequent visits with lower expectations, I found it more to my liking. I liked the Bock right off the bat. The second time I had it, it really was gorgeous, with a huge rocky head and licorice in the nose. The rich palate had some licorice as well. It’s a dangerously drinkable Bock.
