Reichold Dunkel

chestnut beer in mug
Reichold Dunkel

Brewery:
Reichold
Town:
Hochstahl
Style: Dunkles
Color:
chestnut
Head: creamy, off-white

Nose:
strong malt, some chocolae
Body:
medium
Palate: richly malty, slight chocolate, fine underlying hops

Finish: long, semi-dry, bittersweet

Served: on tap at the brewery

Impression:  Gasthof Reichold is one of the staple brewpubs on the Aufseß circuit. While this beer doesn’t appear to be one of their staples and I don’t see it on their website anymore, I’ve always found it on tap when there. Maybe I’m just lucky because I quite like it. It’s a fine balanced Dunkles and think it has a cleaner finish than the legendary dark beer up the trail at Kathi-Bräu.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
