Kraus Edel-Pils

Nose: light hop, grain
Body: medium-bodied
Palate: malty, some grain, hoppy
Finish: long, dry and bitter
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: Kraus has a fair line-up of beers and I don’t generally order a Pils in Franconia, at a Biergarten no less but decided to give this a go. It was on tap and I’d enjoyed both previous beers that day. It was quite golden and much fuller-bodied than you’d expect of the style. It was also much maltier, with a fair amount of grain to the palate. Initially, I’d have said it worked as a Helles but it was also hoppy and had a fairly bitter finish. I’d not shy away from having it again but I liked both the Lagerbier and Hirschentrunk better.
