Held-Bräu Helles
Brewery: Held-Brau
Town: Oberailsfeld
Style: Helles
Color: unfiltered golden
Head: rocky, white
Nose: malty, some grain
Body: medium-bodied
Palate: malty, cereal, somewhat fruity
Finish: dryish, bitter
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: It took me a couple visits but I finally got around to trying their “other” beer, in this case the Dunkles is more popular than the Helles. So, I wasn’t really expecting much and was very pleasantly surprised to find a dryish quaffer with a nice bitter finish. I had it again when doing a long distance hike and it was refreshing and must say, on a hot day it’s likely to be my choice next time too.
