Göller Rauchbier
Brewery: Göller
Town: Zeil am Main
Style: Rauchbier
Color: dark brown
Head: creamy, off-white
Nose: slight smoke
Body: medium
Palate: malty, nice smoky element that’s not overpowering
Finish: clean, dryish, slightly bitter
Served: from a bottle at the brewery
Impression: This is generally on tap at the brewery but they’d just run out and decided to have one anyway. It was quite dark and malty but with a very nice smoky element. It reminded me a bit of Spezial’s Märzen, which is much maltier than their everyday Lagerbier. I’d try it again if I saw it on tap and if the mood for a Rauchbier, you could do a lot worse.
