Impression: I’d come to this Anstich for this beer in particular but I’d had the Kellerfrisch Pils first as I was planning on using it as the end of hike beer for my book. I also had told myself when I had it in winter that it would be a great session beer and wanted to have it without any other tastes in my mouth. Well, it was as great as I had hoped. This one, however, is the kind of beer that makes this such a great brewery. It brews a full line-up of typical Bavarian beers but has made good in-roads with craft beer too. I’d had the Wiener Lager in winter and this spring beer was even better. If you wanted a craft beer Kellerbier, you wouldn’t have to look any further. It’s got the dry fruity balanced palate you’d want plus the nice citrusy hop element. It’s also very much backed up with malt so this is no overly bitter hoppy beer. The finish lingers but just enough to make you want more.
