Drei Kronen Haluator
Brewery: Drei Kronen
Town: Memmelsdorf
Style: smoked Dopplebock
Color: unfiltered dark amber
Head: thinning
Nose: malt, slight smokiness
Body: medium, medium carbonation
Palate: fruity, underlying smokiness
Finish: clean
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: This was a nice finish to an amazing meal. It would have been nice to have it on tap but it wasn’t the season for a Dopplebock and it’s likely, it was just a bottle they had sitting around. At 7%, it was in good shape and didn’t seem to lack flavor in any way. It had a nice understated smokiness that in on way interfered with the more typical malty elements of the style. I’d like to return at Lent sometime to try it on tap.
