Brewery: Rothenbach (Aufsesser)
Style: Franconian lager
Color: dark amber
Head: off-white, rocky
Nose: rich malt, some chocolate
Palate: well-balanced, malty, slight chocolate, fair hopping
Finish: long, dry, bittersweet
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: Brauereigasthof Rothenbach is the largest production brewery on the circuit and has the largest line-up of beers as well. This is their signature brew and it’s a classic Franconian lager. While perhaps less revered than their rivals on the Aufsess circuit, I found their beers all well-made and this easy quaffer was no exception.
