Kraus Hirschentrunk
Brewery: Kraus
Town: Hirschaid
Style: Franconian kellerbier
Color: in krug, no visuals
Head: thinning
Nose: light hop, grain
Body: medium-bodied, low carbonation
Palate: dry, fruity, bitter
Finish: long, dry and bitter
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: Kraus has a fair line-up of beers so it took me some time to finally get to their most popular go-to Lagerbier. Served in a krug, even inside the restaurant, there were no visuals. The dry fruity quality is what I like in this type of beer and it’s hoppier than most, as well. It’s a beer you could drink all day if there weren’t so many choices. I’ll look for this again come the warm weather.
Next beer or back to the beer list.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
