Kraus Festbier
Brewery: Kraus
Town: Hirschaid
Style: Festbier
Color: amber
Head: thinning
Nose: malty
Body: medium-bodied, low carbonation
Palate: malty, not overly flavorful
Finish: clean
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: Festbiers can be hit or miss and often can be overly malty or thin version of the brewery’s Bock. This one fit into the second category. It came out on the flat side and to be honest, it could have been the last keg on the last leg since it was likely released in early December and it was nearly February. Oddly, it really lacked any hop presence, which both of the previous beers had plenty of. It was by far the least special of the three beers I tried and wouldn’t rush to order it again unless when it was first released.
