Greif Dunkel Weisse

weissbier in glass with bottle
Greif Dunkle Weisse

Brewery: Greif
Town:
Forchheim
Style:
Dunkel Weizen
Color:
ruddy brown
Head:
ample, off-white, yeasty
Nose:
yeasty, banana
Body:
medium
Palate: fruity with some yeast and slight banana

Finish: clean

Served: from a bottle at the brewery

Impression: This was probably a beer I should have bought for the road but I had a half hour to kill before my bus and opted to have one at the brewery even though it was in the bottle. I was prompted by having read that it had won a European Gold Star and it came out looking the part. While it was a perfectly well-constructed Dunkel Weizen, I’ve had better and thought this one was a bit overrated. If you love the style, by all means have one but if I had to do it over again, I’d have another Hell.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
